Morgantown is a scenic mountain town in Central West Virginia and home to West Virginia University. Straddling the Monongalia River, the college town has a population of about 30,000 people, which doubles in size when the university is in session. Located in Monongalia County, the size of the larger metro area is approximately 140,000.
Locals love the nearby mountain biking, skiing, hiking, fishing, and whitewater rafting; hanging out by Cheat Lake in the summer; the turn of the leaves in Fall; as well as the active local brewery scene.
Most of the businesses in Morgantown are small businesses, rather than corporations. The town is a magnet for people of all ages due to its outdoor attractions, tourism and energy industries, top-rated hospitals and health care sector, and close proximity to many popular attractions, like Cooper’s State Rock.
As the #1 program in the nation for attracting digital creatives, West Virginia’s ASCEND program is a big contributor to the area’s growth. Many people are noticing all Morgantown has to offer. Recently, Morgantown was awarded as the “Tastiest Town” by the Charleston Gazette. And, Parade Magazine, listed Morgantown as one of the best college towns in the United States.
Just like us, many people and businesses are relocating or retiring here. Morgantown’s downtown area, including its entertainment corridor on High Street, is growing. The small city still has that “Wild and Wonderful” casual feel – with all the conveniences and recreation you want close by.
Changing Vegas Studios is a true community-based business. We don’t run our entertainment company like corporate overlords who pay low wages and take most of the profits for themselves. Instead, we share the success of our projects with the people who help us get there. Our games and creative projects are “Collabs,” projects developed by local creative teams.
After relocating our business from Las Vegas to Morgantown in November 2024, our aim is to create value and fun for our players, to enrich the lives of local families, and to positively contribute to the economic growth of Morgantown and Monongalia County.
As Dave Thompson, our CEO, remarks:
‘I hope to tap into local, talented people who can help us bring our vision about games and entertainment to life. We want to partner with other like-minded individuals who value personal expression, shared wealth creation, and local business collaboration.”
